Winter Camping Ideas You Need To Try
Now that we are in the middle of winter, we can look forward to cosy nights in with a cup of hot cocoa and plenty of days spent in the house playing games and watching movies.
But before you hang up your ‘do not disturb’ sign and hibernate for the next few months, why not have one last hurrah in the great outdoors? Today we are going to take a look at some of the ways you can enjoy a winter camping trip with your family or friends.
A fake out
If you don’t want to dare travelling out into the wilderness in the cold weather, we can’t really blame you. For a camping experience without the risk for you all this weekend, all you need to do is head out into the backyard and camp out with your family! Bring lots of blankets, use a chiminea as a fire if you have one and spend the evening toasting smores as you chat and bond. It only has to be for one night and it can be a fun adventure for the kids!
If camping just isn’t your thing, you can just cheat a little bit on this and go glamping instead! You’ll still be staying in a tent, however rather than a tent with little to no comfort, you’ll be on a proper bed with a bedside table and even a lamp. Some call it the cheaters way of camping, but we call it camping with style! You’ll even be able to use a real toilet and a shower so if you are one to miss the home comforts when you are out in the wilderness, you will be glad to be here for the weekend!
A trailer with blankets
For a one-night adventure which is ideal for couples, a fun idea would be to look at Trailers for Sale and drive it up to a quiet spot in the countryside for the night. Once you have driven up here you can set up a whole host of blankets, grab some snacks and drinks and cuddle up underneath the stars. You don’t have to camp overnight if you don’t want to, but it will certainly be a fun experience for you both.
The reason not many people go camping during the winter is du to the fact it is incredibly cold. You don’t have fresh summer nights during the winter and this can put people off wanting to trek out of their homes for a few nights, but it can be a really wonderful winter break. A great idea to make sure you stay warm and toasty would be to set up the fire and grill some meats and vegetables for a big barbeque feast. It will be a great way to stay warm and cooking on an open fire is always a fun thing to do!
Hot cocoa for all
Whatever you do during your winter camping trip, don’t forget to bring a thermos, hot chocolate and mugs! There is nothing more satisfying after a day of hiking than sitting around the fire heating up a hot pot of cocoa to share. You can even bring some marshmallows with you and toast these to add into your mugs!
