Online marketing has opened up a whole world of customers that you can access from the comfort of your own home.

All businesses are making good use of that, but sometimes this means they sacrifice face-to-face time with customers. Although your online presence is a vital part of your marketing strategy, there’s still something to be said for getting out there and meeting people. Lots of consumers these days prefer to deal with companies that have more of a personal touch. They’ll respond to meeting you in the flesh and seeing how passionate you are about your products. Saddle up and get your business on the road and you’ll make some valuable contacts all over the country.

Trade Shows

When you’re taking your business on the road, you don’t just want to drive around the country for a few weeks trying to find customers. Find a list of trade shows locally and further afield; that way you can make sure your stops are all useful. When you get there, there’ll be loads of rival companies, all with their own presentations. Customers won’t have time to see them all so you need to come up with something that will draw people in. When you’re travelling around, you’ll have limited space, but don’t let that stop you from bringing a professional presentation. Have some bespoke modular exhibition stands made so you can easily take them down and fit them all in the car.

Make sure that you’re giving out your contact details to anybody that you speak to, and take theirs where possible. Don’t wait too long to follow up on all of those leads – email them all as soon as you get back.

Use Your Car As a Billboard

You’re going to be driving your car all over the country and passing thousands and thousands of people. So, you’d be missing an opportunity if you don’t cover it in branding. There’s no need to do anything too extreme, but use something that will get people talking. If you overload it too much, it will be difficult for people to pick out the relevant contact information. Use your website instead of a phone number. If people drive past quickly, they’ll be able to remember a website much better than a phone number, which they won’t be able to write down while they’re driving.

Break Schedule

You should try to stick to your schedule as far as possible. The trade shows that you have booked are valuable opportunities, but don’t be afraid to break schedule in some circumstances. If you hear of a better opportunity that clashes with one of your existing bookings, it is sometimes in your interests to change things up. Even if things aren’t going great, don’t give up. See the trip through to the end because you never know what you might miss out on if you head home early.

When you’re out on the road, make sure you take extra batteries for your phone and laptop as well. You don’t want to miss out on a great contact because your tech is out of juice. Most importantly, have fun while you’re out there – remember, positivity breeds positivity, so go forth and conquer.
