Make a Good Impression With Your Clients
When you are working as a freelancer or you have just started your own business, it is incredibly important to remember that the impression you give to your customers will affect the way they see you, and whether or not they will want to do business with you in the future.
The most important thing you can do to make a good impression is to be welcoming and friendly as they visit you. Watery it be a first time visitor or a long time client, making them feel comfortable and putting them at ease is incredibly important. This will allow them to feel at home in your office and will make your meeting much more comfortable for both parties.
Dress to impress
Even if your normal policy in the office is to dress smart casual, when you are going to host someone new you should make the effort to dress up smartly. This will not only give off a professional vibe to visitors but it will also put your visitor at ease because they won’t feel overdressed when they enter your building .
Be on time
The worst thing you can do if you want to make a good impression with a potential client is to show up to your meeting late. By showing up late you make it seems as if the meeting isn’t important enough to you and it also wastes time. Make sure you take extra precautions to always be on time, if not early, for meetings with your clients.
When your client is talking to you, don’t let your mind wonder elsewhere. It can be pretty easy for us to sit in a meeting room and start thinking about what we will have for dinner later, but it is never a good idea to let your mind wander in a meeting because it can bite you in the bum if you are asked about it later on.
Start with small talk
When you are in a meeting, you are there to talk about business, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make some small talk too. If you go straight into the business side of things you will never forge a good relationship with the client and they won’t remember you above your competitors. Make time to get to know the person you are talking to and you will see a huge difference in your relationship. Watch your body language
Your body language says more about you than the words that come out of your mouth. It is crucial that you make sure to be aware of your body throughout a meeting to give off the right impression. For example, never keep your arms crossed because this makes you look guarded and closed off to conversation, but at the same time don’t sit with your arms out and legs open because this can be intimidating. The best position you can use is sitting with your legs shut and arms on your lap. Also make sure to give enough eye contact during conversation and smile throughout the meeting to reassure your visitor.
