From 5 To 9: Making Your Home a Suitable Working Environment Throughout the Day
It can feel pretty good having a disposable income when you own a company.
The weekends away, vacations whenever you feel like it, and lunches out certainly appeal.
But, does this mean you get much work done when you are at home? It’s a very popular concept for businesses now – getting employees to work remotely rather than in an office – but is your own home environment suitable for working in the first place? If not, then let’s fix this, from the morning admin work to the quality time with your family in the evening.
Let’s face it, if you’ve got to get up at 5 am to get admin completed that you’ve been putting off for months, it feels much better doing it in the comfort of your own home than in a cold sterile office. Although, your home can be particularly cold at 5 o’clock in the morning. So, it’s best to have a warm kitchen where you can enjoy a mug of coffee so you can ease into the day. A breakfast bar is a nice setting in which to complete essential admin, and with luxury vinyl flooring with underfloor heating you can feel nice and cosy. You can click here for luxury vinyl flooring information, but the great thing about a breakfast bar in the kitchen is that it’s that combination of a relaxing space with somewhere to do your work. Sometimes we need those home comforts to be a bit more productive, especially when it’s first thing in the morning and we haven’t quite woken up yet…
Choosing to do your work from home on occasions doesn’t mean you have to miss out on important meetings. You can get Skype for Business for a good cost, but if you’re looking for a place in your house to conduct suitable meetings, you need a home office. It’s best not to have an office too small so the sound bounces off the walls, ruining your communication, but you need somewhere that’s far away from the rest of the house, especially if you’ve got children running around. We’ve all seen that footage of Professor Robert Kelly’s children interrupting his live interview with the BBC (for those that haven’t, it’s below), and this is reason alone why you need an office tucked far away!
Evening Quality Time
Your work is never done, but that doesn’t mean you can’t spend quality time with your family. A standing desk is a great addition to any entrepreneur’s home, not only because it’s out of most children’s reach, but also it’s something that can be put in a corner, so if something pressing needs doing while you’re playing with the kids you can get up and go to it, complete the necessary task, and come back to time with your family. As we all know, your business doesn’t stop when it hits 5 o’clock, but you still need to spend proper time with your family, so why don’t you make the necessary changes to your home to accommodate this?
If you haven’t made your home a suitable environment to get things done, now’s your chance!
