They’re All Perks of The Job, Don’t You Know

Whenever you read anything business-related, the chances are that it’s going to be quite serious.

And so it should be. Because, more often than not, you’re going to be looking for professional advice on how to get your business up and running, or hints and trips to give it a boost.

But sometimes, it’s nice to be able to take in a piece of information that’s a little more light hearted and a bit of fun, but still educational, too. And that’s what this post is all about. Because sometimes you can take your job too seriously. Remember, running your own business is meant to be a benefit, so of course, you should take full advantage of the perks that come with being your own boss.

A Laptop – And Then Some

This is probably one of the perks that you already know about. But being able to invest in your own technology and communication equipment as a business expense sure is exciting. When you’re an employee, you often have to work with the tech that you’re given. But when you’re the boss and it’s your business, you get to choose what you work on. So go ahead and pick out that perfect laptop; hey, maybe even pick up a tablet too if you need it. It’s always better to be well equipped than lacking in supplies.

A Car

Next is another big expense that can be a lot of fun to pick out, and that’s a car. It’s not always something that everyone will want – or be able to invest in – but it’s definitely a perk that you might want to consider. Car leasing, in particular, can be beneficial. If you’re not sure what you could get, you can find a few decent deals here to weigh up. If you’re on the road a lot, especially with sales and heading to meetings, this could be the best purchase you make.

Stationery and Office Supplies

From the biggest to the smallest – you may also want to consider the stationery worth investing in. If you’re a huge stationery geek, this could be the best part for you. And when you work in an office, and you’ve got a lot of administration to do, you need the right stationery to see you through. But there’s also the full range of supplies you may need to style out your office, including printers and other tech, furniture, and even decorative touches.

Depending on what your business does, you may also benefit from uniform as a fun perk of the job. But you will need to get to know the HMRC tax recommendations on writing off uniform as an expense. Because as much as you’d like to claim that new coat for work, it might not wash.

Corporate hospitality – whilst still technically ‘work’ – can be a lot of fun too. And although this is something you can enjoy as an employee, it’s definitely more rewarding when you’re your own boss. Entertaining clients over lunch or dinner, or even at events, is a huge perk of the job that can often make the stressful times feel all the more worth it.
