2015 diary dates - my little black book

2015 Diary Dates

There is something magical about a blank diary at the start of a new year.

A pretty desk accessory offering pages of opportunity, it is not just your organisational taskmaster but also your memory maker.

That said, fifty-two weeks feels like a long time when physically held in your hands, and already you probably have a series of meetings and deadlines pencilled in (the not-so-fun part). However, grab a different coloured pen – our top tip is to colour code your diary dependent on whether entries are work or play – and note down the following dates, our pick of the must-attend events and exhibitions of 2015.

women of the world

Women of the World Festival – 6th-8th March

WOW is a global festival celebrating the accomplishments of women and girls. Through talks, debates, music, film and comedy, the festival examines the most potent topics for females today, from race to war, politics to perfume, sexuality to fertility, feminism to fashion. A great opportunity for women to gather and recognise their talents – whilst also looking at the obstacles that prevent them from achieving their potential – the festival has in previous years been presented by the likes of Julie Walters, Bianca Jagger and Sinead O’Connor.

Tickets are available by the day for £20, or for the full three days for £45. We’ll be there on the Friday when the festival is focusing on women in the workplace. Join us?

women fashion

Women Fashion Power at the Design Museum – Until 26th April

This amazing exhibition showcases exclusive interviews and historic pieces of clothing to form a unique presentation of modern female fashion – the most wide-ranging ever to be shown in the UK. Featuring five arenas of power and 150 years of fashion, the exhibition offers an unprecedented look at how women from Dame Vivienne Westwood to Princess Diana to Miriam González Durántez have used fashion to define, express and enhance their authority and reputation.

A must-visit for all ambitious, empowered women.

royal opera house

Royal Opera House Backstage Tours – Until 17th June

Waltz your way through the stage doors of the Royal Opera House for an exclusive backstage peek at one of the world’s leading theatres. Marvel at the magical costumes and make-up, be transported to a faraway land in the set construction department, and perhaps even catch a breathtaking ballerina in rehearsal as she prepares for that evening’s performance.

A dream for bunheads and culture vultures alike.

royal ascot

Royal Ascot 2015 – 16th-20th June

If 51,000 bottles of champagne, 125,000 glasses of Pimms, 2,400 kilos of whole sirloin beef and 3,700 rumps of lamb sounds like your kind of party (hello), then be sure to RSVP ‘yes’ to this year’s Royal Ascot.

One of the social occasions of the British summer season, Royal Ascot promises pageantry, exhilarating racing action, high fashion and plenty of fizz for a day that is sure to live long in the memory (well, depending how hard you hit the Bollinger Lounge!).

Make it an extra special occasion by treating yourself to a Fine Dining ticket and gorging on a sumptuous selection of cuisine from one of the two Michelin starred chefs hosting this year’s restaurants, Michael Caines and Phil Howard. Starting at £250 per person the packages are not an everyday expense, however with twelve restaurants to choose from, inventive food from internationally revered chefs to tuck into, and stunning views of the world’s greatest race meeting to enjoy, this brilliant day out is well worth putting your leftover Christmas bonus money towards. Plus, where else do you have the opportunity of potentially making back your day’s expenses – and more?!

euro hockey

EuroHockey Championships – 21st-30th August

Re-live the excitement of London 2012 by heading to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and watching Europe’s top teams battle to win the EuroHockey champions title.

Following an exhilarating Commonwealth Games and with only a year to go until Rio 2016, Britain’s men and women will be hoping to display the sort of form that will see them on the medal podium in Brazil. International hockey is fast, furious and the skill has to be seen to be believed! School yard scrapping this is not. So ready your voices and show your national spirit for a tournament that promises to bring a little slice of the Olympic magic back to London.
